Catholic Energies Program

In 2017, Page Gravely and Dan Last partnered with Catholic Climate Covenant to create the Catholic Energies program. Inspired by Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si', the program launched with the goal of helping Catholic campuses pursue energy independence and efficiency as demonstrated action to Care for Creation. Starting with one energy efficiency pilot project, the program grew to focus on solar and energy storage under Mission Energy's management, resulting in projects with more than 40 Catholic organizations nationwide. In 2026, Catholic Energies expanded to add clean energy procurement, net-zero planning, and carbon drawdown and reforestation as part of its program services. Today, Mission Energy has returned the management of the program back to the Catholic Climate Covenant and continues to serve as a partner for Catholic Energies, delivering trusted commercial solar and storage project development and end-to-end management services specifically for churches, schools, dioceses, and other Catholic organizations.
